Immobiliser

The image shows the center console of a car, with a Ghost AutoWatch owner's manual placed on the gear shift area. The gear shift is in the park position, and there is a carbon-fiber pattern surrounding the console.

AutowatchGhost immobiliser is a tiny aftermarket security module that connects to your car’s CAN‑bus (the internal data network all modern vehicles use). It prevents the engine from starting or the gearbox from engaging a gear unless you first perform a secret PIN sequence using existing buttons in the car (e.g. steering‑wheel, dash, or console buttons).

No extra fobs or LED tell‑tales (however there is an optional fob available)

No radio signals to scan or relay.

No obvious signs to a thief that it’s even there.

This makes the car immobiliser system particularly effective against key cloning and relay theft (the two most common methods used to steal keyless vehicles).

How it works

01
Silent CAN-bus control
The Ghost immobiliser sits quietly on the vehicle's CAN network. When the ignition is turned on, it checks whether the correct disarm sequence has been entered. Until then, it blocks starting by disrupting one or more required CAN messages — e.g., start authorisation, fuel enable, or gear selection — depending on the vehicle.
02
Authorisation via OEM buttons
Instead of a separate keypad, you enter a user-defined button press sequence — your "PIN" — using existing car controls. The car's indicators or another subtle cue on the dash confirms when the code is accepted.
03
Optional Bluetooth tag or phone app
Ghost installation setups allow a BLE tag or smartphone app to silently authorise you when you get in. This is convenient, but the most secure approach is usually PIN-only — no RF, nothing to relay or clone.
04
Stealth by design
There's no RF transmission, no diagnostic fault codes typically raised, and no visible wiring changes for a thief to follow. It's designed to be hard to detect and harder to bypass without knowing its location and logic.

BENEFITS COMPARED TO TRADITIONAL ALARM

Why is the Autowatch Ghost Immobiliser superior to other car immobiliser systems?

  • Cartoon of a person with a beard, wearing glasses and a blue shirt, pointing at a red and orange bar chart.

    Stealth by design

No LEDs, sirens, or dangling fobs, hard to find and bypass.

  • A hand holding a card reading "Jane Doe" with a gold star on it.

No RF = no relay attack risk

It doesn’t transmit radio signals, so “relay theft” tactics don’t apply.

  • Drawing of a smiling girl holding a yellow pencil, sitting at a desk with a green plant and notebooks, in a classroom setting.

    Blocks starts at CAN level

Even with a cloned/programmed key, the car won’t authorise start without your secret PIN.

  • Black icon of a person with a speech bubble and three dots representing communication or messaging, on a white background with an orange underline.

Uses OEM buttons for a PIN

No extra keypad or fob to manage, you set and change the sequence yourself.

  • A black and white illustration of a cigarette with a lit end, emitting smoke, and a warning label below it.

    Minimal wiring, reversible fit

Typically, no cutting of critical looms, reduces diagnostic issues and installer fingerprints.

  • A person standing on a ladder trimming a Christmas tree decorated with ornaments.

    Service/valet modes

Practical for maintenance and parking without exposing your PIN.

UK note: The Autowatch Ghost II is commonly TASSA‑accredited, recognised by many insurers.

PROTECTION AGAINST KEYLESS THEFT

Stops every modern theft method

A black luxury car parked on a brick driveway next to a white vehicle. There is a fence with brick houses and a tree in the background, with cloudy sky overhead. A Ghost-11 owner's manual is partially visible in the foreground.

Keyless thieves either relay your key’s radio signal from inside your home or clone/program a new key via the OBD port. In both cases, the car “thinks” a valid key is present and allows starting often in under a minute, with little noise.

Autowatch Ghost Immobiliser installation protects your vehicle from all above and even key theft.

NO CODE = NO START!

Relay your key's radio signal from inside your home Blocked
Clone/program a new key via the OBD port Blocked
Key-theft itself Blocked
Authorised owner with correct PIN Allowed

Autowatch Ghost Immobiliser coverage is very broad but still vehicle‑specific.

Since the early 2010’s all cars, vans and even a lot of motorcycles have been equipped with the CAN-BUS network which allows Ghost Immobiliser installation. Before booking a Ghost Immobiliser installation, we will confirm your vehicle is compatible with this or other car immobiliser systems.
